Hi, my name is Stephanie Burns, and I am thrilled to continue as Leland Public School’s full-time nurse. A little about me: I graduated from Michigan State University with a Bachelor’s of Science in Family Community Services with an Early Childhood Education emphasis. I went on to nursing school and have been a Registered Nurse since 2009. I have worked in many different fields of nursing and have worked at the Benzie Leelanau District Health Department since 2016. I feel so lucky to have landed in my dream job as a school nurse serving our Leland School Community. I am married to my husband Shannon, and have two children. Skylar is in 7th grade and Sabina is in 4th grade here at LPS. In my free time you can find me outside in nature walking, boating, skiing, camping, and/or spending time with our many pets. Our family loves animals! We have 3 dogs, 2 cats, 3 horses, 4 rabbits, 2 chickens, fish, and a leopard gecko.

Hello, My name is Gerardo Vasquez, and I am excited to be rejoining the Leland community this fall as the new Mental Health Provider for Leland Public School! A little about me: I am a 2017 Leland Alumni. During my time at Leland, I was able to participate in drama, soccer, basketball, and natural helpers. After my graduation in 2017, I went on to continue my education at Grand Valley State University to obtain both my Bachelors and Masters degrees in Social work. During my time at GVSU, I was able to gain experience working with a wide variety of populations, ranging from working with refugee youth to providing therapy to families and children who have endured trauma. Additionally, I have experience working in crisis intervention with both youth and families. I am now excited to work alongside some familiar faces and even more excited to work with students!
