I would like to introduce myself as the Chair of the Local Governing Body (LGB) for both Leigh on Mendip and Hemington Primary Schools.
My link with Leigh on Mendip School began in 2018 as a parent, and my commitment to our school community has grown from there. I joined the governing board in 2021 as a Parent Governor and have been Chair since the start of the 2023/24 school year. One of my proudest moments in the role has been leading the governing board through our most recent OFSTED inspection and seeing the hard work of staff and pupils recognised. I also really enjoy presenting the Governor Cup each term, celebrating pupils who have gone above and beyond.
Professionally, I have over 20 years’ experience working within education and SEND, and I currently support schools across the Midsomer Norton Schools Partnership in relation to SEND. As Chair, I use this experience to support and challenge our leadership teams, ensuring that every child, regardless of their starting point, receives an inclusive, high-quality education.
I care strongly about the success of our school, not just as a professional and a governor, but as a local parent. I look forward to continuing to work together to ensure Leigh on Mendip remains a wonderful place for children to learn and grow.
Leigh on Mendip Primary School Governors have a wide range of experience, knowledge and competence working effectively as a team making corporate decisions. Although the work of the governing body is voluntary, it has many responsibilities, but generally it is there to be a critical friend to the school, and to challenge and support the leadership team.

Chair of Governors
Leigh on Mendip and Hemington LGB
Governors come from a variety of different backgrounds, reflecting the many interest groups in Leigh on Mendip Primary School, but they have one important thing in common. They are dedicated to ensuring that all the children in the School have the best possible education at all times. This is the primary focus of all governors.
