Here you can find out about the incredible range of events and experiences our students have been a part of this year.
From thrilling sports tournaments and friendly fixtures to inspiring drama workshops, creative arts projects and exciting school trips. Each event provides our students with opportunities to challenge themselves, grow in confidence and celebrate their talents.
Below, you’ll find articles highlighting some of the many activities that we take part in.
12th March 2026 - Game On! Activity Festival
Our Year 3 class headed to Millfield Prep School for the SASP Game On! festival.
The day was all about bringing popular video games to life. Our children took part in a variety of physical activities, focusing on agility, coordination and (most importantly) having a great time together.
3rd March 2026 - Year 3 & 4 Football Tournament
Our team of Year 3 & 4 Footballers had a great time at the recent School Schools Football Tournament held at Norton Hill School.
Although there was no placings on this occasion, they showed true sportsmanship whilst working together as a team in a number of matches.
Well done team!
27th February 2026 - Trip to We The Curious - Kingfisher Class
The Kingfishers class traded their desks for a world of wonder this week during an unforgettable trip to We The Curious! From the moment we stepped inside, the air was buzzing with questions and excitement.
The children conducted hands-on experiments, testing theories and explored sensory displays. All of the activities linked well with our school ethos - Nurturing Curious Minds.
The day was filled with "wow" moments and collaborative problem-solving. It was a fantastic way to bring our science curriculum to life and spark a lifelong love for exploration.
24th February 2026 - Trip to Holburne Museum
Swallows had a really interesting visit to The Holburne Museum in Bath on Tuesday, as part of our recent History topic on The Georgians. They took part in a workshop on Georgian Sustainability where the children made and decorated Georgian-esque self-portraits, and then the children were able to wander around the museum to find out about all the interesting artefacts and paintings. The workshop was run by a lady who is a close neighbour of our very own Miss Burroughs, and whose children are ex-pupils of Leigh on Mendip school, and so this created a familiar link between our school and the museum. All the museum staff were very impressed with the conduct, enthusiasm and work ethic of our Year 5 & 6 children, and paid some very nice compliments about them, an aspect of trips and visits that is always welcome and pleasing. Therefore, all Swallows class should be very proud of themselves for representing our school in such a positive manner.ts
23rd February 2026 - Trip to Sevington Victorian School
Starling Class left the year 2026 behind and stepped back into the 19th century for a truly immersive day at Sevington Victorian School. This trip was the perfect way to bring our "Schools in the Past" curriculum to life and the children fully embraced every moment of their historical adventure.
The day began with a wonderful display of Victorian fashion! From flat caps and waistcoats to mop caps and pinafores, all of the children looked brilliant.
The children were quickly introduced to the routines of a Victorian classroom. There time was enjoyed creating lavender bags, learning gardening skills, learning using a chalk and blackboard to playing with Victorian toys in the playground.
12th December 2025 - Whole School Pantomime Trip
What a brilliant day we all had when our entire school went to the Westlands Entertainment Venue in Yeovil to watch a truly brilliant performance of 'Beauty and the Beast'!
The show was incredible and the children absolutely loved every magical minute of it. We are so proud to share that their behaviour was impeccable and a real credit to our school.
A massive special mention goes to:
🌟 Caden, who was called up on stage to help 'Crackers' with a song and dance. What a superstar moment.
✨ Our incredible inventors: Alice, Mireya, Oriana and Ezra, whose genius magic inventions were called out on stage during the show.
2nd December 2025 - Midsomer Norton Swimming Gala
We are so incredibly proud of the team who represented our school at the Small Schools Swimming Gala in Midsomer Norton!
The event was a massive success, with every child entering at least two races and giving absolutely 100% effort in all fourteen events. We were genuinely impressed!
More than the results, we were blown away by the incredible sportsmanship and support they showed, not just to each other, but to every school participating. They truly did us proud!
All our swimmers received a certificate in assembly to celebrate their commitment and hard work. Congratulations to everyone involved!
14th November 2025 - Key Stage One - Drama Workshop
Kingfisher and Starling Class had a great time taking part in a brilliant Drama workshop! The children have been learning all about castles and knights in class and this was the perfect chance for them to bring their knowledge to life.
Through role-play, movement and storytelling, they stepped into the shoes of brave knights, castle guards, royalty and even a few mischievous characters! Their imaginations were buzzing, and it was wonderful to see their confidence and creativity shine.
A huge thank you to Divergent Drama for such an engaging session — the children absolutely loved it!
12th November 2025 - Midsomer Norton Cross Country Meet at Downside School
On Wednesday, a group of talented runners took part in the Midsomer Norton Schools Cross Country event held at Downside School. The atmosphere was full of energy and excitement as our pupils competed in various races including the Year 4 boys, Year 4 girls, Year 5 boys and Year 5 girls.
Each and every runner showed incredible determination, perseverance and team spirit as they tackled the challenging course.
A huge well done to all our runners for representing our school so brilliantly. We are very proud of your achievements!
10th November 2025 - Girls ESFA Football Qualifier at Strode College
Girls’ Football Tournament
What a fantastic day our girls had on Monday as they took part in the SASP (Somerset Activities Sports Partnership) Girls Football tournament! The event took place at Strode College, where our team played a series of exciting matches against other local schools.
The girls showed brilliant determination, teamwork and sportsmanship throughout each game, working hard in defence and creating some wonderful chances in attack. Their enthusiasm and support for one another really shone through and we are so proud of how they represented our school.
Well done to all our players for their effort and energy on the pitch — you were amazing!
6th November 2025 - Small Schools ESFA Football Qualifier at Strode College
"What a wonderful new event we took part in yesterday as part of SASP - Somerset Activities Sports Partnership. Nine of our boys travelled to Strode College to take part in a small schools football tournament that consisted of three 12 minute matches. We drew our first two games and then lost the last one. This put us through to the plate part of the tournament where we played a further two games which resulted in us sharing the win with Ashcott. The boys were thrilled to be part of this event and showed great teamwork throughout." Mrs Ball
16th October 2025 - Football Match - St Benedicts School
Our football team showed fantastic spirit and enthusiasm as they took part in their first ever match in the Midsomer Norton Small Schools’ League on Thursday.
We were up against a very tough opposition in St Benedict’s, but all of our children worked incredibly hard throughout the match and never gave up. Their teamwork, determination and positive attitude were clear to see from start to finish. Every player gave their best, supporting one another and showing great sportsmanship throughout. Although the result didn’t go our way this time, the experience was a brilliant learning opportunity, and the team can be very proud of their performance. We’re already looking forward to the next match and building on what we learned from this exciting first fixture!
