A biodigester takes ORGANIC WASTE
and converts it into
FERTILIZER, CARBON DIOXIDE, AND METHANE GAS
The Paw Power Project biodigester will use bacteria that undergo anaerobic digestion and break down organic waste in the absence of oxygen. We will utilize anaerobic waste sludge from the Lehigh County Authority Wastewater Treatment Plant in Allentown, PA as a base. Dog poop is then added through an opening, where it will fall down into a collection shoot. When the biodigester becomes full, some of the mixture is emptied out; after sterilization, it can be used as fertilizer. In the meantime, the bacteria will get to work on producing methane.
The methane travels through a valve and tubing until it is converted into energy. This energy can take many forms, such as electricity through a generator, or light from a gas lamp, and much more!
