“Kids are falling behind.” You’ve likely heard this phrase countless times in the months since school closures and virtual instruction slammed into the landscape of K-12 education. While it has received more attention in recent months, the need for academic recovery existed long before March 2020. In this session, participants will explore best practices relating to closing academic gaps among learners and discuss real-life classroom examples of setting up and implementing systematic instruction to promote academic recovery.
In this session, participants will review practices for the selection, administration and evaluation of appropriate accommodations for instruction and assessment. Presenters will use Pennsylvania’s standardized testing systems (e.g., PSSA, Keystones) as a platform for exploration and application.
The use of technology can keep students engaged throughout lessons. This session will give an overview of apps and activities that will help keep your students maintain their awareness of instruction.
In this session, participants will have the opportunity to learn about and effectively utilize digital applications to increase student engagement. The specific applications demonstrated through this session are Classkick and Nearpod.
