Michael J. O'Neill

I am a postdoctoral researcher in the Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering at Lehigh University working with Professor Frank E. Curtis. My postdoctoral appointment is funded by the Computing Innovation Fellows 2020 program run by the Computing Research Association with strong support from the National Science Foundation. Prior to my appointment at Lehigh, I completed my PhD in Computer Sciences at the University of Wisconsin-Madison where I was advised by Stephen J. Wright.

My research interests lie in the design and theory of continuous nonlinear optimization algorithms, with a particular focus on worst-case complexity results. Recently, my focus has shifted to the study of stochastic optimization algorithms for large scale machine learning and data science problems.
