Equity and Inclusivity
As a faculty member, it is my responsibility to use my power and privilege to advocate for students and colleagues from diverse backgrounds. We strive to create a collaborative and supportive environment that enables our group members, students, colleagues, and collaborators to thrive. In this spirit, I make several concrete commitments:
I commit to linking my students and colleagues to opportunities for recognition and advancement whenever possible, particularly highlighting those from historically excluded groups.
I commit to fostering an environment of open and inclusive communication that prioritizes mental health and promotes anti-racist attitudes and actions.
I commit to actively recruit and support women and Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC) students, postdocs, and faculty members to enrich our academic community at all levels.
I commit to consistently re-evaluate my biases, convictions, and actions, to ensure that I continue to learn and grow in my role as a supporter and advocate of equity and inclusion in the sciences.Â
