Location

Lehigh University is located in Bethlehem, PA. Bethlehem is located in Lehigh Valley region of Pennsylvania, and it is contiguous with the cities of Allentown and Easton.

Bethlehem is located 64 miles northwest Philadelphia, and 74 miles west of Newark NJ.


Air travel

Those traveling to the conference by air will likely find one of the following three airports to be the most convenient.

Lehigh Valley International Airport

Lehigh Valley International Airport (ABE or sometimes LVI) is located about 7 miles north of Lehigh University. There are convenient connecting flights through ABE to and from many major centers in the US including:

  • Philadelphia, PA

  • Washington, DC

  • Chicago, IL

  • Charlotte, NC

  • Atlanta, GA

  • Detroit, MI

Note: United Airlines offers a "flight" from EWR to ABE which is actually a shuttle bus between the two airports.

Newark LIberty International Airport (EWR)

Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR) is located 74 miles to the east of Bethlehem PA. Those traveling to the conference through Newark will need to arrange travel to Bethlehem as well. This can be done either by rental car, bus, or ride-share service (Uber/Lyft).

Trans-bridge offers regular bus service from Newark to the Bethlehem area. The most convenient drop off/pick up point is probably Lehigh Valley International Airport.

Philadelphia (PHI)

Philadelphia International Airport (PHI) is located 64 miles to the southeast of Bethlehem PA. Those traveling to the conference through Philadelphia will need to arrange travel to Bethlehem as well. This can be done either by rental car, bus, or ride-share service (Uber/Lyft).

Martz offers regular bus service between downtown Allentown (13 miles from Lehigh University) and Philadelphia's 30th Street Station and 10th and Filbert Station. Philadelphia's SEPTA rail system provides transportation between 30th Street Station and Philadelphia International Airport.


One-way Uber/Lyft between Bethlehem and EWR or PHI will cost approximately $100-$150.

Other modes of transportation

Participants can also travel to Bethlehem PA by bus from various locations throughout the United States.

  • OurBus provides bus service to Allentown from many cities, including New York, NY and Ithica NY.

  • Trans-bridge provides bus service to Allentown from New York City's Port Authority Bus Terminal.

  • Martz provides bus service to Allentown from cities in Pennsylvania such as Wilkes-Barre, Scranton, and Philadelphia.

  • Greyhound provides bus service to Allentown and Bethlehem from numerous cities in the United States.

Amtrak train service does not service the Lehigh Valley, however conference participants may travel by Amtrak to Philadelphia's 30th Street Station, then taking a Martz bus to Allentown. Alternatively, participants may travel by Amtrak to New York City's Penn station, traveling by foot or subway to the the New York City Port Authority Bus Terminal, then taking a Trans-Bridge bus to Allentown.
