Astronaut William Anders’ 1968 photo of Earth taken during the Apollo 8 mission helped launch the environmental movement. The photo made clear we are intimately linked to each other and to our planet. Earthrise by poet Amanda Gorman shows us that our shared future is ours to create.

Building on Bethlehem’s Climate Challenge: Let’s Make Change Together this event brings together individuals and groups interested in creative approaches to climate action to ensure a healthy, livable planet for all. We seek to raise awareness, foster collaboration, build community, and take action.

Invited Speakers:

J. William Reynolds Mayor of Bethlehem

Audrey McSain Lehigh University Sustainability Director

Ben Felzer Professor Earth & Environmental Sciences

As part of this event we’re sponsoring a creative climate action challenge open to Lehigh students from across the University. We invite submissions from individuals and teams that inspire, propose, or promote actions to create a future that is sustainable and equitable. We encourage submissions that draw from the arts, humanities, social and natural sciences, health, business, education, and engineering. Entries that address economic, social, and environmental dimensions are welcome. Submissions in various formats and media accepted. Winners will be announced and prizes awarded at the EES Open House on April 3rd.
