Technical Skills

Analysis

I have developed my analysation skills thorough a number of projects and aspects of the course one of the most obvious being when i had to analyse magazines in order to produce my own front cover and double paged spread in BTEC Media.

Research

I have developed my research skills via learning the different types and utilising them for different projects while at collage. I developed my Primary Research in CTEC Film as i had to do research on the production of a film and research about the company that made it. I developed more Primary Research along with Secondary though making a Magazine in BTEC Media.

Wide Range of Software

During the production of my magazine in Project 1 i have further developed my knowledge of software and how it can be used. I had to use Affinity Photo to edit and clean up my images, additionally i used publisher to create my Double Paged Spread, as it has features which are better suited for article's then something like Affinity Designer.

Practical Skills

During my first term i was tasked with some small photography tasks, this helped not only to develop my skills with photography but also help me to understand why different shots are used and different techniques you can use. Some the ones i am most proud of are;

Celebrity Endorsement Shot

Portrait Photography

For this shot i was tasked with creating a celebrity endorsed advertisement, For this i needed to think about how celebrities are used to promote products and how they are normally produced.

For this shoot i was tasked with taking 8 pictures of 3 different buildings at night, this shoot helped me to learn how to use a tripod and how to properly expose a shot for different lighting conditions.

For this shoot i was tasked with taking 48 photos, 24 of people being normal and 24 in a studio situation, this helped me to learn the nuance in photography and how two completely different shots can still be the same type of shot.

Cover Magazine

Double-Page Spread

This magazine cover was created as apart of Project 1 - Produce a Magazine Cover & Double-Page Spread, to make this i needed to research an analyse preexisting magazines, additionally i needed to understand who i was making it for and my audience.

Book Cover

Producing the book cover was proberly the most difficult task in my first year, The channenge came in the form of trying to create graphics and creating them withon somone elses style while still exentuating the uniue qualitys of the material i was referencing

Kindle Cover

The kindle cover suffered from largly the same issues as the book cover however profucing the graphics was far easier as they had been made during the producing of the book cover,

Icons

The Icons were proberbly the msot difficult due to the reduced size and how much information i had ti get actoss with such little visuals

Music Video Production

The music video was almost the largest project of the year, it took weeks to film and weeks to edit along with weeks of planning and research, i had to understand everything about the song from the artist to the genre, but i am proud of how it tubred out, however bad my perforance was.

Oatridge Coatching

The final project from my first year was tasked to us by Know Film and involved researching and producing an advertisment for a local buessness, the company my group was tasked with was Oatridge Coatching, together we brainstored ideas and cane up with a concept, then we whent out to once off there sessions to shot some a-roll and b-roll, after all that i used davinchi resolve to produce a 2 minute video for the company using the footage.

Practicle Skills

Unit 1

During unit 1 I was tasked with researching and reviewing a film of my choice, i chose Yu-Gi-Oh! Bonds Beyond Time. This unit helped to develop my understanding of the film industry along with my skill revolving around writing and reseaching.

Unit 14

Unit 14 challenged me to create a campaign the short film i was producing at the same time. This allowed me to develop my creative skills along with the ability to catch a viewers eye.

Unit 17

Unit 17 tasked me with creating a short film. This took planning, preperations, creativity, ingenuity, and pacience to create. I am proud of the end result and have far more respect for those who create films and shows as it was hard work and very difficult to get everything right.
