The speech content must be the student’s own thoughts and words concerning the topic. Research materials have been provided. Students may opt to do research on their own using reliable and school appropriate resources.
All speech content is subject to teacher and administrator approval. Any content that is deemed inappropriate by teacher or administrator will be removed.
The speech does not need to be memorized-- the use of notecards is allowed, but students who memorize their speech will get a bonus point.
The use of props, visuals and/or costumes is not allowed, and students using them will be eliminated from the competition.
The speech presented must be between three and five minutes long. A point will be deducted if the speech is less than three minutes or more than five minutes long.
