Resource Spotlight: Nutrition & Grocery Support for Families
At Legacy Home Care, we know many of our caregivers are not only caring for clients — you're also caring for families at home. This month, we want to highlight a local resource that can help support healthy meals and ease grocery costs for families with young children.
One valuable program available in Erie County is the Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC), offered locally through the Erie County WIC Program.
WIC helps eligible families with children under the age of 5 by providing:
• Healthy food benefits for groceries
• Nutrition education and support
• Breastfeeding support for new mothers
• Health screenings and referrals to other helpful services
Many working families qualify for WIC — even if they are employed full time. The program is designed to support pregnant women, new moms, infants, and young children during important developmental years.
Caregiving is meaningful work, but it can also be demanding. Resources like WIC exist to help families stay healthy and supported, especially during seasons when budgets feel tight.
If you or someone you know may benefit, you can learn more or apply through the local office.
