Enrollment
Families new to Lee County Head Start can enroll their children for the 2023-2024 school year by clicking on the image below. If you are a returning family or previously had a child in Lee County Head Start, please call 276-346-3150 to complete an application.
Enrollment for Lee County Head Start is ongoing year-round. An enrollment application must be completed. Applications can be completed online. To contact Head Start about enrollment, call 276-346-3150 Monday-Friday 8:00-4:00 p.m.
After the application is completed, a screening committee, composed of Policy Council members, begins the selection for each center and home base program. Applications are screened on the following criteria:
1) Age of child
2) Income status
3) Criteria points
10% of the enrollment must be for children with documented special needs (20 children) and 10% of the enrollment (20 children) can be for applications above the Federal Income Guideline scale.
Lee County serves 203 children. The cost to participate is FREE!
Documentation Needed for Enrollment:
1) Current (up-to-date) immunization record for the child
2) Proof of family income
3) Birth Certificate or Proof of Birth Record
4) Documentation of any disability, including speech/language from a professional making the determination.
