Engage Students with Technology
This is only an issue for students who are logged into multiple accounts on their chromebook at the same time. For example, if you click your profile photo in gmail, you will see the other accounts you are logged into. Students are prohibited from adding additional accounts because they then use that to circumvent the filters we have on school accounts and download apps they are not allowed to use on chromebooks such as Snapchat and Tiktok. Because of this, they will need to log out of all additional accounts in order to access canvas. The Url that leads them to is: accounts.google.com/AccountChooser and we have that blocked. If they are only logged into one, they go right in. This should also not be an issue on any other devices, but they will need to click the "Sign out of all accounts" or "Manage accounts" to remove old ones.
1- Open Google tab displaying 9 dot grid and profile icon ( round circle with initial or picture)
2- Click profile icon.
3- Click Manage Accounts (blue).
4- Click Manage accounts on this device (black).
5- Click 3 dots beside other user accounts.
6- Click remove.
7- Repeat until all other users are removed.
All other accounts must be removed from the device to ensure Canvas access. (Thank you to Mrs. Fee for typing these instructions!)
We have removed the old Google Apps integration because it has been replaced with a new version - Google Assignments LTI 1.3. It’s very easy to use but may look different than the old one.
In the rich content editor, click the additional tools button. It looks like a downward pointing arrow beside the studio tool. It will show additional tools including google. You can use that embed your slides, docs, etc.
If you want to add google files for students to edit and return to you, you can do that too! You’ll use assignment and then under submission type click external tool and choose google assignments.
If you have files loaded with the old Google app, they may not load properly. Just go into the assignment and delete the old upload. Use the external tool to embed your file again.
Click here for a full explanation with screenshots.
When using Canvas, do not embed videos. Use the external tool or provide a link.
This video will show you how to use these methods effectively.
Open these directions to download to a shared drive. If you are loading directly from your desktop to the jump drive - stop at #9 and load directly to jump drive.
Yes. You have an option to download Nearpod lessons as a PDF.
If you assign a digital worksheet that includes drag and drop, fill in the blank, or other assessment questions, Google Classroom and Canvas will assign each student their own copy. If assigning from Google Classroom, you must choose the option "Make a Copy for Each Student". Canvas will automatically do this for you. In Canvas, use the Google Assignments LTI 1.3
We do not have the VR goggles for Nearpod. Students do not need them. Each school does have VR goggles but they require phones. They could be used if students want to view using their phone.
No. Students will not need a code. You can find a demonstration of how to do this in the Nearpod training recordings on the "Teacher Trainings" tab.
This video demonstrates what's happening and how to see your students by section.

Google Voice is a free service that allows individuals to create a phone number that rings to your cellphone or house phone (wherever you send it). It is a paid service for Google Enterprise, but free to personal accounts. Use a personal gmail to create yours.
You don't have to do anything. Powerschool and Canvas sync each night. Changes should be reflected the next day.
Click on Commons, then select "Filter" Scroll to the bottom and select the "Virginia Public Schools" under Consortium.

The limit of 100 activities is a combination of both: from the community and your own creations.

Watch this one minute video for instructions. How do update my browser for Canvas?
There are MANY considerations before you live stream your classes. Please do NOT attempt without watching this video, and obtaining consent from your principal and tech staff. You will also need to do a practice session before going live.
Send this information to leecoitrts@lee.k12.va.us and we will change the email listed in Canvas. We will get to these as fast as we can.
Words that are underlined are the links.
Once the student opens a document that was posted in Canvas through the external tool Google Assignments, that doc is saved to their google drive which is accessible offline. Just like Google Classroom, the document must be opened while online.
