Social Worker

My name is Jennifer Thomas, and I am the school social worker for Bragg Street Academy, Floyd L.

Knight and Lee Early College. I joined Lee County Schools as a school social worker in 2021, and have

been a social worker for over 17 years. I am married and have three children, a son and identical twin

daughters. My family enjoys traveling and especially camping.

There are many parts of being a school social worker. I help connects students and families with

community resources that they may need in order for the student to be successful at school. I also

monitor student attendance and work with families that need assistance in making sure that their

students are attending regularly. School social workers work with the school counselors in providing

emotional/social support and training to students to improve their ability to learn and be successful in

their educational setting.
