Open House Message

Dear families,

My name is Barbara Comstock-King. Your kids know me as Mrs. King, their new music teacher. I am thrilled to be here at Gales Ferry/Juliet W Long School with your children. It’s such a beautiful school with wonderful teachers and students!

I’ll tell you a little about myself. I am from upstate New York where we get lots of snow! I went to the Crane School of Music at SUNY Potsdam and UConn for my music degrees. I also studied at the Hartt School of Music for an additional music certification. I have been teaching music since 1994 in New York and Connecticut, in grades Pre-K through 12. Mr King and I have been married for 24 years and our kids are so big (high school and college). They’re both great people and wonderful artists. When I’m not teaching or working on school plans, you might find me cooking, crocheting, practicing my part in the a cappella ensemble Take Note!, or walking our crazy dog, Natalie. 

If you are a third grade family, you’ll be getting communication from me next month about starting the recorder! And yes, that will include tips on what home practice should (and should not) sound like! :-) Fourth and fifth graders will have the chance to sign up for Chorus starting in October. It will take place before school on Wednesdays and we will have a concert in the spring with the Beginning Band.
