Giuliana De Donno
Giuliana De Donno, born in Matera, graduated in classical harp at the S.Cecilia Conservatory in Rome. Her repertoire embraces various musical genres, from classical to popular thanks to the versatility offered by the study and research on instruments of popular traditions such as the Celtic harp, the Viggiano harp and the South American harp.
As a classical harpist she has played as a soloist, in chamber ensembles and in orchestras, in prestigious festivals and musical institutions such as Estate Fiesolana, Rome Europa festival, International Harp Symposium, Roman Philharmonic Academy, Rome Opera House, Todi Festival and more. Also in the pop field, from Jazz to rock, popular, electronic, etc., Giuliana made her strings resonate at the Sanremo Festival, Notte della Taranta, Carpino Folk Festival, in the theater with artists of the caliber of Giancarlo Giannini, in cinema with directors such as Ettore Scola and also in record productions and collaborations with various national and international artists including Simone Cristicchi, Giovanni Lindo Ferretti, Roberto de Simone, Radiodervish, Amedeo Minghi, Alessandro Haber etc…
She has made numerous television appearances and radio interviews, recently she was a guest of Stefano Bollani in a duet with the famous pianist, in the well-known RAI 3 television program ''Via dei matti n.0''. She has trod the scenes of international and world festivals in Paraguay, Mexico, Brazil, Tunisia, Germany, France, England, Belgium, the United States, etc. and she has been the ambassador in Italy and abroad for Matera European Capital of Culture 2019.
Among her recordings let's mention the CD ''Strings of Ancient Rome'' in which she plays the lyre, the zither, and the Burmese harp; Her recording '' A Sud del Mondo '' (South of the world) in trio with Massimo Cusato and Raffaello Simeoni; and '' Harp to Harps '' where she retraces some fundamental stages in the history of the popular and classical harp. As a teacher she founded and started in Viggiano (Southern Italy) the first Italian school of popular harp for oral transmission and has held masterclasses and workshops in Conservatories and in Italian and foreign advanced musical institutions. She is currently professor of classical harp at the Conservatorio ''L. Perosi'' in Campobasso and popular harp at the Conservatorio ''O. Respighi'' in Latina.
Alessandra Magrini
Graduated in harp at the "Nicolò Paganini" Conservatory of Music in Genoa, Alessandra Magrini continued her musical studies in France with Catherine Michel (first harp at the Paris Opéra) and Elisabeth Fontan-Binoche. Alessandra obtained the Diploma with special mention at the Antibes Conservatory of Music and the Chamber Music Diploma at the Paris Boulogne Conservatory with honors.
In 1996 she obtained the "Ville d'Antibes" music prize and the 1st Harp Prize at the UFAM International Competition in Paris. She graduated with honors in Modern Literature at the University of Genoa, and later specialized in teaching the harp to pre-school children, graduating from the Suzuki International Institute in Turin. She currently lives and works in France where she alternates her musical activity between concerts and teaching.
She holds the chair of harp at the Grasse Conservatory of Music and collaborates regularly with the Orchestre Philharmonique of Montecarlo, the Orchestre Philharmonique de l'Opéra of Nice, and with the Cannes Orchestra. She has participated in major European festivals and has collaborated to publish two CDs dedicated to contemporary music for the Dynamic and Arts record companies as well as a recording of a CD on Debussy with the "Orchestre Philharmonique de Montecarlo". She is a member of several ensembles, from duo to quartet, and collaborates with various choirs as a solo harp.
She has been invited to give concerts in Europe, the USA, Canada, Lebanon, Martinique, Guadeloupe and South America. As the President of the “Recital” Association, she has led the artistic direction of the “Concerts à la Chapelle” of Chateauneuf de Grasse. She is also the artistic director of the International Harp Festival on the French Riviera. Alessandra is regularly invited as a jury member in various music competitions and in different music Conservatories. She holds master-classes in France and Italy. She was invited as a soloist at the "World Harp Festival" in Hong Kong in 2017 and with the Trio Artemisia at the XVII Festival de Rio de Janeiro.
