What does your job involve?
My job involves drawing and painting for clients and my own self-directed work.
Toby also provides teaching as a painting tutor.
What does an average day look like?
What does an average day look like?
I’ll be in the studio 9am till 12pm in the mornings following online courses and practising drawing and painting. The afternoons (1-6pm) I spend working on projects I have to complete whether it be for a client or myself.

The skills I have learnt through working as a workshop assistant, online courses and self-directed study have given me a technical competence.
Toby attended Winchester School of Art (Southampton University) and worked as a workshop Assistant, Florence Academy of Art. He also took part in Sky Portrait Artist of the Year and was a finalist in 2020.

What advice would you give to aspiring creative students?
Just because you have ideas doesn’t make you creative; develop your craft so you are able to give substance to your ideas.
