Portrait Painter

What is your job title?

I am a portrait artist.

What does your just involve?

I create paintings of people and figures. I take part in exhibitions and also complete commissions for customers.

What does an average day look like?

I go to the studio and work on either a private project or a commission. I also complete admin work such as my website and I answer emails.

What qualifications and experiences enables you to achieve your current position?

I completed GCSE and A-Level Art at school.

I also took part and won Sky Arts Portrait Artist of the Year in 2018.

What advice would you give to aspiring creative students?

Work on your craft out of joy regardless of any potential outcome. I was taking time out to paint in the studio even when I was in full time employment and had no prospects of an Art career in my mind.
