I have worked in Lebanon Township for over 20 years going between Valley View and Woodglen as a Physical Education teacher for grades 4-8. I have also spent that time coaching both the boys basketball & baseball teams. When I'm not teaching and coaching I enjoy watching college athletics and spending time with my wife and daughter.

This is my 8th year teaching Health and P.E. in Lebanon Township. I move between both Valley View and Woodglen teaching 4th-6th grade P.E & 7th & 8th grade Health. I also coach Girls Basketball at Woodglen as well as girls lacrosse at Voorhees. I have my Bachelor of Science degree from East Stroudsburg University with a certificate in both Health & Physical Education. When I'm not teaching I love being outdoors and finding new places to go on runs/hikes with my husband. I've also become quite a fan of cooking over the last few months!

I have been teaching for a total of 11 years, but this is my 8th year at Woodglen School. I teach 5th and 6th grade health and 7th and 8th PE with Mr. Dally. I am the student council advisor. I grew up in Rockaway, attended Morris Knolls High School and then I attended William Paterson University and played field hockey at the collegiate level there. I am happily married and have 4 little ones at home! I live locally and love spending time with my family and our chocolate lab!

Physical Education
Our goal in PE class is to teach students fundamentals of basic sports and games while having fun in a safe environment. The students are exposed to a wide variety of activities to help promote the importance of a healthy, active lifestyle.
All physical education classes will be in person. All students are required to change in the locker room prior to class. Masks are optional to your comfort level.
All daily grades will be posted on genesis.
Materials Needed for PE Class: (MUST CHANGE FROM SCHOOL CLOTHING)
-Athletic shorts or pants
-T-shirt or sweatshirt
-Sneakers
-Water bottle if needed
Health
Our Goal: To help students better understand their health in all aspects of wellness (mental, emotional, social & physical).
5th & 6th Grade Health:
-Mrs. Barnes teaches 5th and 6th grade Family Living in room 34. We cover many interesting health topics over the course of a marking period. If you have any questions feel free to reach out to Mrs. Barnes via email at jbarnes@lebtwpk8.org .
-In 5th grade health we will cover proper hygiene, healthy lifestyles and many more exciting topics. Our main drug awareness topics that we focus on are tobacco, alcohol and then we cover puberty at the end of every marking period.
-In 6th grade health we will cover many diseases/illnesses, relationships and many more topics. Our main drug awareness topic is marijuana and we discuss fetal development with a review of the reproductive system at the end of every marking period.
*** Please note, parents have the option to opt their child out of viewing the Miracle of Life video. Mrs. Barnes would just need a simple email stating so. The student will be given alternative work to complete in a different location while the class views the video.

-7th & 8th Grade Health will be taught by Mrs. Miller!
-In 7th grade grade a general overview of topics covered are Personality Traits, Self-Esteem building, Stress Management, Mental and Emotional Disorders, Substance Abuse & Nutrition.
-In 8th grade a general overview of topics covered are Communication, Stress Management, Decision Making, Mental Health, Relationships & Contraceptives.
-Grades will be updated frequently in Genesis.
