Arts Showcase

Join us March 21st @ 4:30pm for our annual Arts Showcase!

The purpose of the Arts Showcase at Learnwell is for students to have the opportunity to share their work in visual or performing arts with the Learnwell community and celebrate their accomplishments together. The works of art submitted may have been completed by the student at any time, not only in the past year.

This year’s Showcase will be on Thursday, March 21st from 4:30-6:00pm. Student performances will begin at 4:30, and there will be open-house style time afterward to view all submitted works of art. Students displaying visual art should bring their work to school Tuesday, March 19th (parents may bring them in at morning or afternoon carpool).

In order to participate in this year's Arts Showcase, please complete the Google Form(s) linked below for your Visual Art and/or Performance Art piece(s) so we can ensure the appropriate time and space can be given to everyone's masterpieces. Submissions for participation must be completed no later than Thursday, March 14th.

Visual Arts Submissions: Students may submit up to 3 pieces of visual artwork, including drawing, painting, sculpture, mixed media and photography. We don’t want to impose any specific size limits, but if something would be considered “oversized,” please email or talk to Ms. Cori (you can use the Contact Button at the bottom of the page).  Complete the Visual Arts submission form HERE.

Performance Arts Submissions: Students may perform one solo piece, one duet/group piece, or one of each for the showcase. Each piece performed may not be longer than five minutes.  Complete the Performance Arts submission form HERE.

We hope that all Learnwell students will participate in this celebration of their gifts and talents!

Frequently Asked Questions:

Can my student stay after school until the Showcase begins?

No, though we are encouraging students who will be performing at the showcase to arrive early between 3:45-4pm in order to do a quick walk-through and find out where in the line-up of performance their turn will fall.  If this poses a hardship for you or your student, please contact Ms. Cori to discuss!

Will my student's artwork/performance be judged?

Not this year!  We are exploring options to partner with a regional and state art competition for the 2024-2025 school year, but for now we are looking forward to showcasing and celebrating student work without the additional requirements and restrictions necessitated by competition.

Can my student submit visual art that he/she has displayed at a past Learnwell Arts Showcase?

Since this is our 3rd year showcasing all of your amazing creative talents, we ask that you not submit anything to this year's Showcase that you have displayed or performed for a past Learnwell Arts Showcase.

Can parents or siblings participate in a duet/group performance?

Absolutely!

Can my student wear a costume for his/her performance piece?

Yes! We'd love to see your student dress up for their performance.  Please bear in mind, all costumes must be family friendly and appropriate for all ages.

If my student misses the 3/19 visual art drop-off deadline, can he/she bring visual art to share the day of the Showcase?

We are working hard to ensure everyone's artwork is displayed beautifully and effectively. Unfortunately, this requires some planning and preparation.  If your student is not able to bring his/her artwork to school on 3/19 for any reason, please contact Ms. Cori to make other arrangements, such as possibly bringing the artwork the day of the Showcase instead.

What is the deadline for Visual and Performing Arts participation form submissions?

Thursday, March 14th, 2024.

Can my student still participate in the Showcase if we do not submit a participation form by March 14th?

Showcasing our students' creativity well requires planning and preparation. Consequently, late submissions will be considered on an individual basis.  Students who bring artwork to school on 3/19 or who show up to perform on 3/21 but have not completed a participation submission form should not expect to be accommodated.  Thank you for understanding!

We would, however, love for all of our students to come and enjoy the displayed artwork and performances regardless of whether they have included their own work.

How should visual artwork be prepared? (Matted? Framed? Other?)

It's entirely up to you! Our goal is to display your piece as beautifully as we can, and then return it to you in the same condition and form you lent it to us. Right now, we do not have any restrictions or requirements regarding frames, mats, etc.

When will my student get his/her visual artwork back?

We will be striving to return everyone's artwork the week following the Arts Showcase (March 26-28).
