my goal is to teach how to

"Say"

Saying and combining words can be difficult. Whether your child has a problem with finding the words or pronouncing words correctly, I can help him or her with a variety of visual and verbal supports with evidence-based treatments. Examples include Phonological-cycles approach, Complexity approach, language, aided language input, language recasting.

"Play"

Research supports playing as a way children, especially in the early years, learn about their world and the language to describe their experiences. There are many ways to play, which can be overwhelming! Also, for parents, choosing what words to say, which words to repeat, and when to say them can be a lot to remember. I can help you navigate through this as a pediatric and Hanen-certified SLP.

"Express"

Many parents and guardians have approached me and said, "I want my child to speak." Speaking implies verbal communication. However, rather than "speaking" I emphasize "Communicating." This means expressing needs and wants through words, gestures, signs, pictures, icons, or a combination of some or all of the aforementioned.

"And"

"Connect" /'nɛkt /

Overtime, I developed my acronym "s.p.e.a/k/" as a play on "speak", to represent my areas of focus in therapy. My basic role as an SLP is to help your child communicate appropriately. Communication starts with a connection, and connection continues with communication. In order to facilitate this exchange, as a pediatric and Hanen-certified SLP, I can help you understand how your child communicates now, what motivates him or her to do so, and how to create opportunities for communication within your daily routine.
