I am currently the Hybrid Onsite Second grade teacher and an Educational Partner at The Learning Choice Academy in La Mesa. This will be my fifteenth year with TLC, and my twenty-fourth year of teaching. I have taught Kindergarten, First, and Second-grade classes as well as Kinder, EAK, and full-day classes. Prior to teaching at TLC, I taught in the La Mesa Spring Valley School District for nine years. I taught grades 1, 2, and 5. Prior to my work as a teacher, I worked for San Diego State University in the College of Business for thirteen years.
I am a mom of two daughters ages 29 and 32. My oldest daughter, Lauren is currently an attorney in Napa. My youngest daughter, Erin, is a therapist in San Diego. I have lived in San Diego all of my life. I have two dogs, Oliver and Daisy. I also have a paralet named Penny. My hobbies include my animals, going to the beach, reading, writing, movies, shopping, gardening, camping, traveling, and spending time with family and friends.
I received my M.A.Ed in Educational technology from Concordia University Irvine. This was a lifelong dream of mine to complete my master's degree, and it was exciting to finally accomplish that goal! I try and use technology in the classroom to enhance the learning experience for my students as much as possible.
In 2022 I published my first children's book, "Alice the Axolotl Learns about Anxiety." This was a lifelong dream of mine. It is about an axolotl who experiences anxiety before her first day of first grade. She learns some tips from three friends on how to deal with anxiety and has a great first day.
In 2024 I published my second book in the series, "Alice the Axolotl Learns about Confidence." In this book Alice learns what confidence is and how to have confidence in herself.
