What to Expect at Our Welcome to Kindergarten Event
When you arrive, students (and parents/guardians) will check in at the gym doors. At check-in, you will receive a bingo sheet and be asked if you have completed the kindergarten questionnaire (if so our grade 7 student will collect them from you, if not you will be asked to complete one before you leave).
Our Grade 7 students will be helping with check-in. Please be patient and supportive as they assist in checking your child off the list and asking a few questions, they are excited to help and are doing their best!
Each child will also receive a fun goodie bag, which will be used as they move through the different activity stations. Please be sure not to forget any of the items from your bags at the stations!
We will begin by gathering at the benches, where I will share a short welcome, go over what to expect, and a few quick housekeeping items. After that, families will be invited to explore the activity stations around the gym.
We encourage you and your child to stay at each station until the activity is finished. Whenever possible, please allow your child to try the activities independently, as this helps us get a sense of their developing skills in a fun and low-pressure way.
As students visit each station and complete the activity, they will receive a sticker on their bingo sheet. Once all stations are complete, they’ll have a fun keepsake to take home!
There will be a snack station available with oranges, granola bars, and water for students, as well as coffee for parents. This is also a great time to connect with our wonderful PAC, we encourage you to say hello and ask how you can be part of our PAC and Chase River Community!
Please look at our kindergarten website for more information about our Gradual Entry process, read a story and check out some cool videos about what to expect in Kindergarten!
