IMPORTANT INSTRUCTIONS: Explore coding using the Finches, multi-functioning robots. They move, they light up, they do Math, they have sensors, and they record your voice and make sounds. The following are fun ways to interact with the finches. Dig deep into 1 or 2 of them by moving through intermediate and advance levels, or try them all in a simpler way, both work. Have fun modifying the code and truly make your finch unique. Feel free to use the Lego provided to add a top to your finch. We will have a parade and watch dances at the end of the last block.
WHEN ASKED: EDUCATORACCESS
This project is a chance for you to exercise your creativity! First, choose a piece of music that is at least 10 seconds long (you can use part of a longer piece). Then, use your imagination as you make your Finch dance to the music! As you advance, use the colour features, and figure out even how to sing backup using voice recorder.
Program the Finch to become a parade float with lights, music, and movement. Define a parade route and program the Finch to follow it by programming the motors to move in the correct pattern. Create separate sequences that cause the lights to flash and the buzzer to play a song. As you advance, use repeat functions and more elaborate displays and sounds.
ADVANCED ONLY - Program your Finch to wander around a room. The Finch should move forward until it finds an obstacle, then back up and turn away from it randomly for two seconds. You can do this by generating two negative random values for the left and right wheel velocities.
The Finch’s beak should glow green when it is moving forward. The beak should change to red when the Finch is moving away from an obstacle. Since Finches are diminutive and polite creatures, it should also beep/make a noise apologetically when it sees an obstacle
