As you learned in the previous sections, there are 4 interrelated and important components for an educator to consider as they design their approach to hybrid learning:
Relationships & Community / Norms & Expectations / Learning Design / Assessment
Be sure to remember that students are at the centre of all these components.
One of the key takeaways we hope you have from all your learning is to be sure to solicit feedback from students regularly to find out how they are experiencing their hybrid learning.
Remember... if you seek to understand the authentic lived experience of your students, you'll then be able to design learning that is meaningful and responsive to each of their individual needs.
Ask students if they are feeling connected to you and their peers. If so, how? If not, what's missing for them?
Engage students in a "temperature check" often. It is much harder to tell how students are doing in a virtual environment.
See if your students understand the norms and expectations. Does anything need to be revisited or reinforced?
Do students know what they are learning and why they are learning it? Is the learning meaningful to them?
Ask them about the videos and materials you have been creating and whether they find them useful, or whether they are using them at all.
Check to see if your students are feeling authentically involved in the assessment process.
See if your students have any ideas for you in designing meaningful and engaging learning for the class.
Finally... don't forget to check in with families (i.e. parents/guardians). Be sure to see what's working and what's not for their child from their perspective.
Thank you for taking the time to learn more about effective practices in designing meaningful hybrid learning for your students.
Please take a few minutes to complete the following final reflection.
After you complete the reflection you will receive an email with instructions on how to get your Designing Hybrid Learning Certification of Completion.
