Math

Students receiving academic support for math make sense of problems, practice thinking skills, and develop a deep understanding of concepts. In order for students to develop a deep understanding of math concepts, they have many opportunities to use manipulatives (as pictured above). After plenty of practice with these concrete materials, students use pictures and drawings to solidify their understanding of the concepts. The goal is for students to develop an abstract understanding and use numbers and symbols to show what is going on mathematically.
