Students in 6th grade Social Studies will begin the course by enhancing their geography skills and identifying the five themes of geography. They will then integrate these same themes and concepts into all ancient cultures and civilizations studied during the course of the school year. After our study of early humans and the dawn of civilization itself, students will study several of the ancient civilizations. Included in this study are; Mesopotamia, Egypt, Greece, and Rome. We will end our course by closely examining the Middle Ages. In class, students will work both independently and collaboratively to develop their ability to think critically and problem solve.
