STUNT is a new competitive varsity team sport that is derived from the athletic skills of traditional cheerleading. In traditional cheerleading, teams are primarily focused on crowd leadership at other sports athletic contests. STUNT removes the crowd leading component and focuses on the technical and athletic elements of cheerleading. The technical elements that teams are judged on include partner stunts, pyramids, basket tosses, jumps and tumbling skills. There is one set of rules and one scoring system that is followed at every game where scoring is based on the proper execution of a skill and not the degree of difficulty. Teams compete in a head to head 4-quarter game format where judges are in place to evaluate the execution of the predetermined routines and the technique used when performing different skill elements. STUNT aims to create new opportunities for female athletes by providing young women an avenue to use their cheerleading skill backgrounds in a new format.Â
