Google Sheets

Working with spreadsheets is a valuable tool that helps with analyzing data, as well as making it easier to visualize patterns and can be used other applications; such as informal assessments, beginner coding, and pixel art

AutoCrat is a multi-purpose document merge tool that allows you to take data from a spreadsheet and merge it into a document via a template. Tell autoCrat which fields to merge via <<merge tags>> and then let autoCrat mass-generate personalized documents. Optionally send the documents as email attahchments. Optionally tell autoCrat to run when new forms are submitted to created truly automated processes.

*A big thank you to Rhonda Frohn for showing us this add on!

Before Google Forms had the quiz function, there was no automatic way to grade spreadsheet submission, therefore this was my go to add on for grading work on a spreadsheet. Kind of outdated now, but still valuable timesaver.

However, there are some things that Google Forms can't do, like give partial credit for checkbox questions. Therefore having multiple tools to grade is a plus.

Personal favorite of mine, and if you like to crunch numbers, data, and analyze it, this a tool for you!

With the XLMiner Analysis ToolPak Add-on, you can easily perform statistical analyses of the same types available in the Analysis ToolPak add-in that has been part of Microsoft Excel for over 20 years, and has been featured in large numbers of textbooks, videos, statistics courses and the like.

Minor Coding

In Google sheets, there are many embedded functions within the tool bar, which can be used to teach minor coding or highlighting specific data points by telling the sheet to perform a function if a condition is meet.

This can be further expanded by applying the same principles to creating a sheet color by number activity

If you have data from a test/quiz in a spreadsheet and you want to visibly see the correct answers, you can create a color code as all the correct answers in green vs incorrect in red.

Graphing

One if the most valuable tool that students can learn how to do is create graphs on a spreadsheet. The power to make data visible and tell a story is extremely powerful tool that make them ready for any future research studies they might pursue.

Pixel Art

This is a fun way to introduce your students to coding and creativity within Google Sheets
