If you're looking for a letter of recommendation for college or a scholarship program, just send Ms. Max an email or stop by and see me! If you have not received a response from me within 2 school days of sending your request, stop by to make sure there were not any issues with the email.
Please request your letter at least 3 weeks before the earliest due date. I try very hard to write a letter for every student who requests one but if I have too many requests I may not be able to accommodate every request, so ask sooner rather than later.
These tips won't apply to every teacher, but they are a good starting point if you don't know where to start!
1) Create or update your resume Include sports, extracurriculars, leadership etc and how long you have been part of them
2) Send a personalized email or stop by in person to ask Your teacher is happy to write a letter for you but it does take time, so be sure you take the time to respectfully request a letter. Please do not just send a request through Naviance without first having asked for a letter
3) Think about why this particular teacher is the best teacher to write your letter The strongest letters of recommendation come from teachers that can speak to something about you that isn't easily seen on a resume or transcript. Try and ask a teacher who can talk about you not just your academics and extracurriculars.
4) Ask early Most teachers need between 2-3 weeks notice for writing a letter of rec. This may be early especially at the very start of the school year so make sure you check in early with your teachers.
