Tryouts will be done via Teams and a link will be sent to you by 12:30pm the day of your interview
The link will be sent to both your student email and the secondary email on your application

Use the following document for the tryout materials
Please set up a space where you will be able to stand and are able to show us your upper body as you present
Interviews will last approximately 20 minutes and will include 3 parts
Reading of the provided Opening Statement for 1 minute
a. Opening Statements are designed to give the judge and jury an overview of the main charges of the trial as well as the key witnesses and evidence they should listen for
b. This does not need to be memorized but should be polished and prepared as if it were being presented in a court
c. You will only be presenting the opening statement for 1 minute. It is not expected that you will read the entire statement. We are looking for the following in this section:
Speaking skills (speed, enunciation, inflection)
Rehearsed presentation of Witness from Direct examination
a. Witnesses present facts and information to the court through direct examinations from an attorney.
b. This does not need to be memorized but should be polished and prepared as if it were being presented in court
c. We will be looking for the following in this section:
Speaking skills (speed, enunciation, inflection)
Ability to create a realistic persona
Ability to take feedback and direction
Debate of a topic
a. You will select 1 of the following topics and prepare a 1-2 minute argument for both sides
School Uniforms- pro or anti
Social Media- does it do more harm or more good?
Drinking Age- Should it be 18 or 21?
We will tell you which side of the topic you will be arguing
b. This does not need to be memorized but should be polished and prepared as if it were being presented in court
c. You will be stopped mid-argument to answer questions and are expected to pick up where you left off. We will be looking for the following: \
Speaking skills (speed, enunciation, inflection)
Argument Construction (organization of argument, logic behind the argument, and clarity of viewpoint)
Adaptability (ability to change arguments/presentation and respond to questions or counterarguments)
