What is Life Management?
Life Management is a co-taught elective class designed to promote inclusion, acceptance, and FUN, all while working with a partner to complete hands-on activities. Through these projects, we explore topics such as kindness, friendship, self-care, teamwork, responsibility, and so many more! We've also been known to celebrate EVERY holiday there is... ever heard of National Bubble Wrap Day, because we have :)
Our class follows a "peer mentor" model in which students will be put into buddy teams and serve as a partner and friend to another student in the class. In our class, we value and appreciate everyone's strengths and different abilities. Many students in our class use communication devices, mobility devices, and sensory supports to help them in their learning. In Life Management, it is expected that you are understanding of these differences and that you learn to support ALL of your classmates
While this class is lucky enough to have TWO teachers each period (there's 3 of us all together), this class is most special when it is student-run! We offer opportunities for students to help lead teacher-created lessons, or even create some of their own. This class is an excellent opportunity to explore your creativity and practice leadership and public-speaking skills.
This unique class is an excellent opportunity to meet and work with all kinds of students and form friendships that extend beyond the classroom!
