Participating teachers (PTs) create an Individual Learning Plan (ILP) with their mentor through thoughtful reflection of past teaching experience, data from their CSTP Self-Assessment, and goals from their Individual Development Plan (IDP) (see sample) created during their teacher credential program based on the California Standards for the Teaching Profession (CSTP). The ILP encompasses the Cycle of Inquiry: Plan, Teach, Reflect, Apply model for educators to further develop their pedagogy.

Plan: The participating teacher determines a focus area(s)  to create a professional growth plan with their mentor  to develop meaningful progress toward their goals. The teacher will select their professional growth goals including CSTPs and content standards to be addressed in their ILP.

Teach/Implement:  The participating teacher will implement their plan, collecting evidence of growth through the process. The mentor teacher observes the participating teacher and provides feedback on virtual, in-person and/or video lessons for teacher reflection, meets weekly with the participating teacher for support. Ex., planning lessons and/or providing "just in time" support based on the participating teacher's needs. 

Reflect:  The participating teacher will  work with their mentor as they reflect on their lesson, work samples, and/or observations and identify next steps. Year 1 teachers will complete the CSTP self assessment after the first semester ILP has been completed. All teachers may complete the Mid-Year Review.

Apply: The teacher will apply new learning towards the planning and teaching of future lessons. The completed ILP will be assessed after each semester using an ILP Assessment Rubric.
