Run Safety

***SAFETY FIRST***

Run Safely Guidelines:

  • Plan Safe: Only run through neighborhoods and parks and on trails known to be safe. Inform others of your route and departure time. Stick with your plan. Carry identification and a cell phone in case of an emergency. Obey all traffic signals and always look both ways before crossing the street.

  • Run with a Partner: Stay 6 feet apart but stay together to help one another in an emergency.

  • Stay Cool: Don’t run during the hottest part of the day. Drink water or sports drinks to stay hydrated.

  • Be Seen: Run during daylight hours so that drivers can see you. Wear bright colors and/or reflective gear.

  • Be Aware: Don’t wear headphones so that you can hear warning sounds. Look both ways before crossing an intersection and obey all traffic signals. Don’t assume that cars will stop for you.
