In case you were wondering...
I was born here in Thousand Oaks. My family moved to Ohio when I was 4, where I lived until graduating from Wintersville High School in 1992. I returned to California to attend Pepperdine University. I graduated with a major in Accounting in 1996. I then worked for several years as a tax accountant before reentering the world of education. In 2003, I received a Masters in Education and teaching credential from Pepperdine. In 2009, I received my Masters in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies from CSUN.
This is my 19th year teaching, all in CVUSD. Before joining the team at Aspen, I taught at Cypress Elementary School in Newbury Park. I also taught at our district's SHINE Homeschool Program last year. I've enjoyed teaching 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th grades. I've had many roles, including working with Student Council, organizing the Talent Show, and coordinating the Odyssey of the Mind program. I've also been the GATE Facilitator, EL Advisor, and on many curriculum committees.
When I'm not working, I enjoy spending time with my family. My wife, Kirsten, is a fellow educator. She currently works at our district office. We have two daughters, Kaitlyn (16) and Sophie (13), and a son, Owen (8). Sports and other activities and school schedules keep us busy. We enjoy going out to restaurants, movies, the beach, Disneyland, and Dodger games.
I'm thankful to be at such a terrific school, with such wonderful students and supportive parents.
