The Wiley Middle School Silver Spurs are a spirit organization and competitive team that performs at all WMS home football games for both 7th and 8th grade. The Silver Spurs consist of two teams, a Performance Team and a Dance Team made up of 7th and 8th graders. This team is committed to representing their school with pride and excellence.
If you are interested in joining, you must attend a 3 day dance clinic that takes place after school in March generally the week before Spring Break. The first 2 days of the clinic are used to learn a Jazz combination consisting of skills that are used and perfected in dances throughout the school year. On the 3rd day of the clinic, there is a placement audition. Dancers are placed based on their skill level.
Silver Spurs do attend dance instruction in the summer, where they learn several routines for the school year.
In addition to football games, other performance opportunities include, pep rallies and other school and district events. In the Spring, the Silver Spurs compete against other middle schools in the district and finish out the year with Spring Show Performances. The team is led by Mrs. Cancino, Mrs. Sanchez and a group of 8th grade officers. Silver Spurs specialize in jazz, hip hop, pom, kick, and contemporary.
