Podcast Jobs

The different roles you can choose from on the podcast crew are:

-Producer

As executive producer, you are in charge of the podcast as a whole. You manage our team to make sure the other podcasters are on track and all on the same page, so episodes are always released on schedule. You will oversee the production process and make sure the show is executed according to our vision.

-Host/Cohost

The podcast host/co-host are the voices of the show, so they need to be charismatic. They also need to be comfortable talking for long periods of time - something that’s harder than it sounds.

The host is also the face of the show, and can be involved in some of the marketing for the podcast, like social media posts. It goes without saying that whoever the host/co-host are, they need to be expressive, articulate and enjoy connecting with others

-Contributer

A podcast needs a focus. Anyone involved in the podcast can generate ideas, but those ideas need to be thoroughly researched and developed into full segments. We are NOT simply an opinion podcast. Any information we present on air must be vetted for appropriateness, and developed in a way that gives the listener a well rounded view of any current event or issue we choose to discuss. Contributors help not only by contributing to the conversation, but by bringing researched episode ideas to the meetings.

-Audio Engineer

A podcast audio engineer manages all technical aspects of production to ensure high-quality, professional sound. They handle equipment setup, record live or remote audio, and perform post-production tasks like editing out mistakes, reducing background noise, mixing music/intros, and mastering volume levels for consistency across platforms.

-Promoter

The podcast promoter is responsible for helping get the word out. They will be responsible for advertising by hanging posters at school, posting on our official social media page, working with SMS News. They will also help by keeping our website up to date, and making sure that our podcast archives are available.

Expectations for All Slicers

Podcasters will be expected to do the following during the meetings:

-Be on time for Spartan Slice Meetings*

-Set up & Put Away audio equipment

-Contribute to the podcast by fulfilling one of the following roles: Producer, Audio Engineer, Promoter, Host/Cohost, and/or contributer.

*If you know that you are going to miss a meeting (Field trip, UIL, pep rally etc...), you need to email me at least 24 hours prior to the absence. If you miss more than 3 meetings that you failed to notify me prior of the absence, you will no longer be in the Spartan Slice.
