I am very excited about this year and can't wait to work with you and your children. Thank you so much for being a part of this incredible journey!
This is my seventeenth year teaching in Leander ISD, and my fifth year teaching QUEST. I am truly blessed to get the opportunity to work at Tarvin with such amazing students, families and staff.
I grew up here in Austin and have always enjoyed living here. I graduated from Texas Tech University in 2005 with a bachelors of science degree in early childhood (Go Red Raiders)! I have a Masters Degree in Education from Concordia University along with my principal certification.
I have worked as both a Campus Science Teacher Leader, Campus Math Teacher Leader and a Campus Technology Teacher Leader for our district in the past. Through these experiences, I have learned a great deal about writing and implementing curriculum along with effective ways to integrate technology in the classroom. I've also been a facilitator for our district's Continuous Improvement Institute for seven years where I have worked with educators in our district to help focus improvement efforts, utilize tools in the classroom to provide students with opportunities to have a stronger voice regarding their education, and increase systems based thinking and application.
I love spending time with friends and family, and they are a very important part of my life. I have two wonderful nieces, one of them attends Cedar Park Middle School; Taylor (13 years old) who is an Eighth Grader, and Lizzie (10 years old) who is a Fifth Grader at Naumann Elementary. I also have two nephews; Greyson who is 5 years old and will be attending kindergarten at Hill Elementary in Austin ISD, and Atlas who was born at the end of March earlier this year. All four of them bring a great deal of joy to my life, and I spend as much time as I can with them. My mom and both of my brothers and their wives all live in the Austin/Cedar Park area (it's a blessing that we all live so close to each other, and that we get to spend so much time together).
I'm a huge animal lover! I currently have a house cat named Gizmo, and 2 feral cats who have adopted me that live around my backyard. I tried to socialize them and give them the opportunity to be indoor cats during the winter storm last year, but apparently I missed my socialization window and they hated every minute of it, so they free roam in my backyard and in my neighbors' backyards, but we all like that they help keep the other critters away. Over the years, I've had a wide array of various and unique pets such as dogs, cats, ferrets, hamsters, a leopard gecko, and even goats. I enjoy traveling, scuba diving, snow skiing, camping, and spending time with family and friends. I also like playing softball, raquetball, and golfing.
This is just a little bit of information about myself, and I'm sure we'll be learning a lot more about each other throughout this year! I'm looking forward to a great year, and I'm glad you're a part of it!
