Mrs. Tanzer's Science Classes

Welcome to Glenn Science!

My name is Jo Ann Tanzer. I will be teaching forensic science and AP, Level, and Pre-AP Chemistry this year. This is my nineth year teaching in Leander ISD. However, I have twelve years of teaching experience. I am thrilled to be part of the Glenn team! Go Grizzlies!

I graduated from Baldwin-Wallace University in Berea, Ohio with a Bachelors of Science in Chemistry and from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign with a Masters of Science in Chemistry. I am interested in all areas of science, but my passion and training is in Chemistry and analytical Chemistry aspects of forensic science. Outside of Glenn, you can find me spending time with my family and friends, traveling, quilting, and watching my son play rugby.

Science is meant to be hands-on and students should expect to be in the lab almost every day. Students will learn how to be scientists in Chemistry by searching for answers through inquiry labs, connecting Chemistry to phenomena that they see everyday, and learning how to process information.

Students will be creating digital interactive notebooks (INBs). Students should share the link to their digital INB with parents. This is a great way to showcase what you have accomplished all year.

The best way to contact me is by email. My email address is joann.tanzer@leanderisd.org. Should you need to contact me by phone, my school phone number is (512) 570-1400 extension 11563. I receive remind messages if that is more convenient for you. Also, feel free to follow me on Twitter @GrizScience. I periodically tweet pictures and comments about our class and science department.
