We will continue to work on building our Orff skills while we integrate simple theatre methods into our work.
This year-long journey focuses on the dynamic integration of the Orff approach and theatrical practices, empowering students to explore their artistic potential while aligning with the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS).
Throughout the year, educators will embark on a thematic exploration, beginning with foundational principles in September and delving into vital elements such as rhythm, movement, storytelling, and character development in the following months as fits each schools’ rotation. Students will be engaged in hands-on experiences, encouraging them to express themselves through music and drama. By utilizing Orff instruments alongside theatrical techniques, students will discover the magic of storytelling, enhancing their ability to articulate emotions and narratives.
In addition to enriching student experiences, this PLC emphasizes professional growth for teachers. Workshops, guest speakers, and peer observations will provide invaluable opportunities for educators to learn from one another, share best practices, and refine their teaching methodologies. By collaborating and reflecting on their practices, teachers will cultivate a supportive community focused on continuous improvement.
As the year unfolds, educators will gather resources, evaluate student progress, and celebrate their collective achievements. This PLC is not just about integrating two art forms; it’s about cultivating a vibrant, creative environment where all students can flourish as confident performers and expressive individuals.
