I'm Ms. Sharma, and I teach many things here at Cedar Park Middle School.
I am the Journalism/Yearbook teacher, the Multimedia Productions lead teacher, the CS Discoveries teacher, the Theatre Assistant, and also the school's webmaster.
Oh, hi there! This is my tenth year teaching at CPMS. I also hold three teaching certifications, in language arts, social studies, and technology.
Teaching is my second career. While working on the university newspaper and also starting an underground alternate newspaper, I earned my BA in International Studies and Political Science from Southwestern University, right up the road in Georgetown. From there, I became a Graphic Designer first at The Austin Chronicle and then in corporate art departments, and finally as the Art Director of a parenting magazine, which allowed me to be a professional mom for a few years.
It is my journalism and graphic design technology background that I enjoy bringing into my classes to help the students become better citizens of the technological world we live in. I also collaborate with their four main curriculum teachers to enrich the student experience, as well as collaborating with other elective teachers.
In Yearbook Journalism, we will explore photography, writing, graphic design, marketing, and news journalism as we work together as the historians of the school to create the yearbook, as well as selling and distributing it at the end of the year.
In Multimedia Productions, we will be learning skills to help us use various methods of communication platforms using storytelling. Podcasting, photography, video and audio programs will all be developed. The student will help sculpt this brand new class into existence!
In CS Discoveries, we will dig into the foundational information needed for following the computer sciences pathway in high school, and students will receive credit for this high school class!
