Dear Students and Families,
Dear Students and Families,

We all have an idea of what success is; this year I am dedicating my efforts toward helping your child to develop a strong sense of self, which will be directly reflected in both their work in and out of the classroom. I will strive to develop and incorporate into the classroom meaningful parent/family involvement, which has been scientifically proven to benefit the children in numerous ways.

A little about myself: I am the mother of two wonderful children (Chelsea and Hayden), am an aunt to 2 nephews an 3 nieces, and am a two time graduate of Texas A&M University (Bachelor of Arts in Interdisciplinary Studies & M.Ed. in Curriculum and Instruction). In addition, I am ESL, Gifted and Talented, and Autism certified. I began my career as a Third Grade teacher and spent the 7 following years in the same grade level prior to transitioning to a Second Grade position. I spent 4 years as a Second Grade Teacher, and last 2 years as a first grade teacher now, I am embarking on my first year as a Fourth Grade teacher.

Our Fourth Grade Team is currently in the process of scheduling an informational open house as a supplement to the school-wide open house. This meeting is specifically geared toward answering any questions you may have regarding curriculum, classroom and homework policies, daily schedules, upcoming events, etc. I would like to stress the fact that you are welcome in the classroom on an announced basis, due to possible scheduling conflicts, as studies clearly indicate that parental involvement in a child’s education is one of the strongest indicators of student achievement. Myself, as well as the Whitestone staff, hope you will make it a priority this year to attend as many school-sponsored events as possible.
