I am Lindsay Gros (pronounced gross) and I'm very excited to be your child's fifth grade teacher this year! I know we are going to have a fantastic year full of learning and fun.
I grew up in Austin and attended Texas State University where I earned my Bachelor of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies (teaching). I have my Texas teaching certification for grades 1st-8th, supplemental in English, and ESL certification. I also have 40 hours of Gifted and Talented foundational training and my certificate for completing the Texas Reading Academy. I have taught 1st, 2nd, and 3rd grades and this is my 22nd year of teaching. I started teaching in Cypress-Fairbanks ISD and taught 3rd grade there for two years. After that, I moved back to Austin and taught at Kathy Caraway Elementary (Round Rock ISD) in 1st and 2nd grades for 13 years. I've taught 2nd grade at River Place for the past 6 years and now I'm thrilled to continue my love of teaching here with our 5th graders, teaching science and writing.
My husband and I were married in 2005 and have been blessed with 2 children. Gabriel is 12 and is in seventh grade and Heidi is 10 and is in fifth grade. My husband, Andy, works at Bestline Communications, a local Austin-based tech company. We love being outdoors, going to movies, fishing, golfing, cooking, gardening, and spending time with each other. Your kiddos will probably hear me talk about my family often and I can't wait to hear all about yours.
I am looking forward to partnering with you and your child this year. The best way to contact me is through email. Please feel free to reach out to me at any time. Welcome to 5th Grade!
Thank you,
Lindsay Gros
