My name is Leslie Ortega and I am one of the SLE Teachers here at Cox Elementary School. I am thrilled to be working with your child this academic year! This is my fourth year teaching and I am eager to continue growing alongside my students and to build a positive, supportive learning environment where every child can thrive. I enjoy working with the students and look forward to watching them grow and progress everyday.

Outside of work I enjoy traveling, working out, listening to music, trying new restaurants, and spending time with my family.

• 🤟 One of my biggest goals is to become fluent in American Sign Language (ASL).

• 🥰 My 6-year-old niece is my bestie, and I love spending time with her!

• 👫 I have two older siblings - one brother and one sister.

My name is Melanie Conley, and I am excited to begin my first year as a Special Education Paraprofessional. I am passionate about supporting students and helping them grow, learn, and feel confident in their abilities. My connection with a family member who has Down syndrome has taught me the importance of patience, kindness, respect, and celebrating each person’s unique strengths. I look forward to getting to know each student, learning how they communicate and learn best, and being a caring and dependable part of their journey. Most of all, I want every student to feel seen, valued, supported, and cared for.

Hi Everyone!

 I’m Yoly, a proud Puerto Rican, devoted wife, mom of four amazing children, and proud autism mom to two of them. My family is my whole world! I love planning Disney World trips, traveling back home to Puerto Rico, creating special memories together, and sharing delicious homestyle Caribbean dishes with a Mexican twist. And on a Saturday night, you just might catch me at Gloria’s dancing salsa!

Throughout the years, I’ve worn many hats, from hospice CNA and bus driver to paraprofessional and, most recently, stay-at-home mom, one of my most rewarding roles yet. I have a big heart for family, community, and helping others; and I’m grateful for all the experiences that have helped shape who I am today.

I know what it is to live 24/7 with my  kids on the Spectrum at home  since I have 2. I understand exactly how you feel as a parent every time you wake up and take them to school. I know your feelings and emotions  and how patient we have to be to teach them. I am glad I got this position to help all my students and assure you that they will be in good hands.

As I work with my students, my goal is to help them grow their social skills, discover different ways to communicate and express themselves, and learn at a pace that challenges them without becoming overwhelming. Most importantly, I want each student to feel supported, encouraged, and proud of the progress they make along the way.
