Why Join Theatre?

Hi 5th Graders!

I am SO excited to have you at LMS next year! I know it can be daunting to pick electives going into 6th grade, and all of your options are amazing, but I would love to see you in 6th Grade Theatre! This intro class gives a foundation for all types of Theatre, and after 6th grade you can choose between a variety of other classes like Musical Theatre, Technical Theatre, Advanced Theatre, and 7/8 Theatre!

Questions

How do I sign up for Theatre?

When you choose electives for middle school, make sure Theatre is your first choice! If you decide you want to take Theatre and have already signed up, you're able to change!

Do I have to know anything about Theatre to take it at LMS?

Nope, it's an intro level course! If you have experience, great! If not, that's okay too!

Does 6th Grade Theatre involve time outside of the school day?

Not at all! It is an entirely in school class. Sixth grade students who are interested in more Theatre time are welcome to audition or work backstage for our spring musical, which has after school rehearsals, but it is not a requirement. 

Do I have to like acting to be in Theatre?

Nope! We have opportunities to act, design, direct, choreograph, participate in technical elements, and write scripts- there's something for everyone in Theatre class!

Can I be involved in Theatre and sports or other activities?

Absolutely! Sixth graders can take Theatre and participate in all athletics and many other electives! Unfortunately, in sixth grade you can not take Theatre and also take some of our full year electives, but I would highly encourage all students to take as many classes as possible starting in 7th grade!
