FFA Membership and Participation: All Agriculture Science students are strongly encouraged to join FFA and become active members. FFA is an integral part of a student’s agricultural education. The FFA enhances a student’s learning experience by providing leadership, and career development opportunities at the local, area, state, and national level. There are opportunities for awards, scholarships based on student involvement at the FFA chapter, district, area, state, and national levels.
FFA is considered a co-curricular club for students enrolled in an Ag class which means that FFA is a part of the curriculum. Participation include monthly meetings, community service activities, organized social events, personal leadership development, competitions and livestock projects. FFA is the largest youth-led student organization in the country and has been part of public schools since 1928. At Vandegrift High School we have a very active FFA chapter that allows students to explore their interests in agriculture and make life-long friendships with peers of similar interests.
FFA dues are $35 (payable in the Webstore) and include membership at the local, District, Area, State and National levels. Members receive a subscription to a bi-monthly national magazine, FFA New Horizons, and free year-themed t-shirt.
