Welcome, Mustang 3rd graders and families, to the 2024-2025 school year! I’m excited to be at CC Mason and have the opportunity to be your teacher. Although new to LISD this year, I began my teaching career 25 years ago in the Austin area. I love teaching! Being part of children’s excitement in discovery and helping foster a love for learning is an amazing privilege.
Throughout the years, I’ve had the opportunity to be involved in the care of children while teaching in public schools, charter schools, and homeschooling my own three children, as well as serving in the mission field overseas for 9 years. No matter where I have been in the world, I’ve seen that all children have an innate curiosity and desire to know. I believe it is my responsibility as a teacher to help nurture that desire to engage, inquire, and develop a passion for lifelong learning.
I have a wonderful family who shared my adventures overseas, including my husband, Kevin, and our three lovely children: Timothy (20 years old), who is now in college pursuing a degree in business computer studies; Katelyn (18 years old), who is a Junior at A&M; and Benjamin (15 years old), a dual-credit homeschool student at ACC. We also have two lively puppies, Piper and Bailey, who are always eager to give cuddles.
That’s a little about me and my family. I look forward to getting to know your family this year. Thank you for entrusting your child to CC Mason and me.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Kihneman
