Amanda Ransom was born and raised in Temple, Texas and has been in choir as long as she can remember.  Mrs. Ransom attended Temple High School where she was heavily involved in both choir and theatre.  

Mrs. Ransom received her bachelor's degree in Choral Music Education from the University of North Texas in May 2008.  While at UNT she performed in both Concert Choir and A Cappella Choir

Mrs. Ransom joined the Henry Middle School family in 2008 as the assistant choir director.  She became the head director in 2012.  Under Mrs. Ransom's direction choirs have achieved Sweepstakes rating at UIL and many students are selected for the All Region Choir.

Mrs. Ransom's choirs have been recognized on the state and national level.  

In her spare time, Mrs. Ransom enjoys spending time with her husband, 14 year old daughter Charlotte, 9 year old son Michael, 5 year old daughter Eleanor.

Amanda Goldberg

Assistant Choir Director

Amanda Goldberg was born and raised in Ft. Lauderdale, FL and fell in love with choir early on. Through her youth, she participated in band, choir, and music theater, with her passion for music being developed through her time spent in the Girl Choir of South Florida. 

Ms. Goldberg holds a bachelor's degree in Vocal Music Education from St. Olaf College and a master's degree in Choral Conducting from Michigan State University. She is thrilled to be moving back to a state with reasonable winter conditions.

Ms. Goldberg has previously served on the Artistic Staff of Northfield Youth Choirs, the Girl Choir of South Florida, and Sistrum Chorus. Before joining the team at Henry, Ms. Goldberg taught at Wellington Landings Middle School in Palm Beach County, FL where her students were regularly selected for All State and Honor Choirs and her ensembles received high marks at Music Performance Assessments. In addition to teaching, Ms. Goldberg is passionate about research and has had the opportunity to present her work at the national, regional, and state level in the fields of music education, choral conducting, and ethnomusicology. 

Outside of the classroom, Ms. Goldberg enjoys going to the boxing gym, being far too excited about discovering a new bird in the neighborhood, and perfecting the art of the caramelized onion.
