The Texas Bluebonnet Award encourages students in grades 3-6 to read for pleasure by selecting 20 books each year of outstanding quality in a variety of genres. Students are encouraged to read at least five books from the list in order to earn the right to vote for their favorite book. Students all across the state vote in January and February, and the book with the most votes wins the Texas Bluebonnet Award for the year. Read five, then decide!
Recommended books selected by the Texas Library Association for children ages 2 - grade 2 to encourage voluntary reading. In the Library I will read several of these books to the students.
